Titleist ProV1x Golf Ball Review
By S. Dee Davis
This is of course the #1 ball in golf on the pro tour. More professional golfers prefer this ball or the original ProV1 to any other ball. The reason is simple – a great combination of length, feel, and pure distance. It’s also got improved scuff resistance for increased durability and good spin control capabilities. A quick check on Titleist’s web site confirms 165 pro tour wins. Many were with this golf ball. The ionomeric casing layer is certainly one of the best in golf. Though it would be difficult for the naked eye to perceive there are 7 different dimple design types within the balls 328 dimples. The design structure is called Spherically Tiled Tetrahedral. I would call this ball a 4 layer construction – counting the dual core as 2, rather than one layer.
The price is typically from $39 to $58 depending on where you buy the balls.
Strengths
Distance, one of the longest balls in golf Great feel and softness for a distance ball Pure off the putter face, great roll Spin control, medium loft for distance Weaknesses Expensive ball for recreational golfing Not as durable and long lasting Does not stop as well as ProV1 on harder faster greens |
