Tommy Armour Silver Spot
By S. Dee Davis
This is a great set for the beginner made by a venerable and well-respected club manufacturer so you can feel comfortable about your clubs no matter who you are playing with. They will never know the clubs cost so little with the Tommy Armour name on them. The set comes with 4 metal woods, a putter, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and 11 irons. The irons are cavity backed and offset and feel pretty good the minute you put them down on the turf. The set comes with regular flex graphite Uniflex TA-24 shafts which are light and feel a little whippy to me (but I use stiff shafts so that’s normal). The putter that comes with the set is a an offset bladed head that feels good the moment you set it down and feels like a much more expensive putter. This alone makes the set a great value – not having to buy a putter. The whole set sells for about $299 and that’s quite a deal. Buy this set and a bag and you’re ready to play golf…
