Safety 1st Comfy Carry Elite Plus

Baby Car Seat  9.5/10

By

Safety 1st Comfy Carry Elite Plus
Parents on a budget can find an economical car seat in the Safety 1st Comfy Carry Elite Plus. This rear-facing model holds infants four to 22 pounds in weight and as tall as 29 inches. It features an adjustable infant insert for really tiny babies and an adjustable up-front five-point safety harness. The canopy is also adjustable and it has a base that can stay in the back seat until you’re ready to drop the car seat on it, buckle up and go.

Some users complain of car seats being too big and bulky to fit in the back seat, but the Safety 1st Comfy Carry’s small size allows it to fit into tight spaces. The base of the seat has a low profile to make it easy to lift, and it’s adjustable to find just the right angle to position the car seat. This is the first seat we found that is actually listed as being JPMA certified, and it meets or exceeds federal safety standards. Plus, in case anything goes wrong it has a one-year limited warranty. Compared to some of the pricier models the price is nice, from as low as $77 to as high as $98.99. We gave it the highest rating due to its safety certification information combined with its affordable price.

Strengths

It’s hard finding safety standard information on car seats, and since this car seat makes its readily available, that’s a plus for parents’ peace of mind.

The low price, combined with the safety record, is unbeatable.

The low base of the seat is low enough to avoid the struggle from leaning over to try and lift the car seat. That really counts when the baby grows to close to the maximum weight limit for the seat.

The Safety 1st Comfy Carry can squeeze into smaller back seats when space is at a premium.

Weaknesses

This rear facing model is for infants only, and can’t be turned around to face forward like convertible seats. That means buying another seat eventually.

Some shoppers complain the Comfy Carry Elite Plus is hard to find in retail stores, but only sold online. Maybe in the future some brick-and-mortar stores will carry this model.

Installation with the seat belt is difficult with some vehicles.
