Baby Trend Flex-Loc

Baby Car Seat  7.5/10

By

Baby Trend Flex-Loc
Unlike some car seats, the Baby Trend Flex-Loc comes with the base included so there is no need to purchase it separately. It’s designed to carry infants weighing between five and 30 pounds, no more than 30 inches tall. It has a five-point safety harness, a one-hand harness adjustment and push button release. The four-position push-button height-adjustable base with level indicator takes all of the guesswork and frustration out of getting the car seat settled in the back seat just right. The back of the seat adjusts to the baby’s height, eliminating the need to rethread the harness.

A “boot” to shield the baby’s feet gives extra warmth in cold weather, and like some other brands, the instruction manual is included on the Baby Trend website. No recalls are listed, but in case any ever are issued customers can fill out the registration form online listing their contact information to keep them in the loop. Baby Trend lists the weight of some of its car seats differently, according to color schemes. Some are listed as being 9.45 pounds, some at 9.65 pounds and some at 7.7 pounds. Depending on the retailer and website, the Flex-Loc sells for $75.99 to $127.34.

Quick Specs

  • Weight: between 7.7 and 9.65 pounds
  • 16.5 by 26 by 25 inches
Strengths

The price makes it affordable for many.

The boot that fits over the baby’s lower extremities is a thoughtful touch, something you don’t see on other car seats.

The triangular shaped handle makes for easier carrying.

Weaknesses

The different weights listed are confusing for parents trying to decide how heavy or lightweight they want their car seats to be. The difference between the lightest and the heaviest weight is almost two pounds, a big difference when you’re lugging a car seat with a baby in or out of the car.

Some users report the seat tips over when the car turns a corner sharply, despite it being buckled in.

Others say the seat’s carry handle does not rotate up and down easily.
