By Lane Reid Keeping skin hydrated and balanced is an important step in staying youthful and keeping skin blemish-free. There are two major factors to consider when purchasing a moisturizer; the first being skin type and the second being budget. There are five basic skin types which are normal, dry, combination, oily and sensitive. Once you have determined which category best describes you then figure out what you are willing to spend.

There are a lot of great options to choose from in the drugstore, health food store, department store, with a skin care specialist (esthetician) or a dermatologist. Other details that you might want to consider are whether you want some tinting coverage and/or an SPF in your daily moisturizer. In my experience consistency is key. If you can’t afford a high end moisturizer with a lot of fancy ingredients then opt for a less expensive one. It’s the things we do every day that really make a difference long term.
