Can I build muscle with protein powder? https://10rate.com/can-i-build-muscle-with-protein-powder/ Thu, 25 Oct 2012 10:17:49 +0000 http://10rate.com/?p=10798 Are you serious about building muscle? Did you know using a simple supplement like protein powder could drastically improve your journey for bigger muscles? Well it can.

What is Whey Protein

Whey Protein is a special form of protein powder which is a by product from cheese. It gets separated from the cheese and goes through a purification/scientific process to make a dry powder form. It is a supremely good source of protein and called the “gold standard” of protein.

How does it help?

Mayo Clinic has said their is good evidence that whey protein increases muscle mass and strength. Since whey protein is a complete protein, it has all the amino acids needed for the protein to work 100%. Some of these amino acids help promote muscle growth on their own.

When coupled with a good workout program that utilizes weights – whey protein powder is a big aid in building bigger size faster.

How much do I take?

Protein on a normal diet should make up 10/35% of your normal diet. 45/56 grams of protein a day. When utilizing a heavy strength resistance type program – you would want even more, about 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.

So yes, it can build muscle

Yes – protein powder can AID in building muscle by giving you the protein you need. BUT – this should never be your soul source of protein. You still need to eat a healthy diet of good lean meat, veggies, and such – get protein from other sources as well.

Do not rely on more then half of your protein from a powder. It will only do so much for you.

Talk with a doctor first

If you plan on supplementing with protein – talk with a doctor first to be sure you are healthy enough to do so.

The History of Mascara is old as the Ancient Egyptians https://10rate.com/the-history-of-mascara-is-old-as-the-ancient-egyptians/ Thu, 20 Sep 2012 10:18:54 +0000 http://10rate.com/?p=9312 Mascara is a cosmetic that is used to define, lengthen, darken and add volume to the lashes. It is one of the oldest known cosmetics dating back to 4000B.C. when the Egyptians first started using a homemade version of various ingredients including kohl, crocodile stool and honey.

In 1917, the first packaged mascara was created by Maybelline Cosmetics founder, Eugene Rimmel. This revolutionized mascara was made of petroleum jelly and coal and came in a cake form. The Maybelline brand, although reformulated, can still be purchased today. In 1957, mascara was modernized further by Helena Rubinstein who created a formula that came in a tube and wand formula.

Today there are many different brands and formulas to choose from. They all contain the same basic ingredients which are pigments, oils and waxes. Mascara has been and is still one of the most valued cosmetics in history.

The Best Features to Have in Your Microwave Oven https://10rate.com/the-best-features-have-your-microwave-oven/ https://10rate.com/the-best-features-have-your-microwave-oven/#respond Tue, 19 Jun 2012 10:04:22 +0000 http://10rate.com/?p=7102 By
How Convection Microwave Ovens Work

Today’s microwave ovens are getting fancier and more versatile, offering various special features that promise quick, satisfactory cooking results for nearly any type of food. It can be overwhelming for a shopper who’s trying to pick out a new microwave to decide which features are necessary and which are cool or spiffy but not really necessary. What follows is a brief run-down of some of the most essential microwave functions you should look for and why they’re important.

Rotating turntable

The turntable, or carousel, of a microwave is a plate, usually glass or ceramic, that rotates so the food placed on it heats evenly. Some people appreciate an on/off switch for the turntable when they want to heat up a large pan and don’t want it hitting the sides of the wall as it rotates.

Adjustable rack

Racks give you even more space for microwaving dishes. For the most versatility and to make the most of your microwave space, adjustable or removable racks are really helpful.

Sensor cooking

Ask yourself what you primarily use the microwave for. Do you commonly use it for popcorn, baked potatoes, soup, pizza, and similar food items? If so, you may want a microwave that offers one-touch sensor buttons that automatically detect how much time and power these foods need to cook properly.

High wattage

A microwave’s wattage determines how quickly the food heats. Some have a wattage as low as 300, but these are not very powerful. To get the most efficient cooking power, look for models with at least 1,000 watts. Even some moderately priced microwaves have high wattage levels, so you don’t have to compromise performance for cost.

Filter

If your microwave isn’t vented to the outside, then it needs a filter to recirculate air and remove steam and odor. Charcoal filters are a common accessory.

Different power levels

Most microwaves offer up to 10 power levels, but what does that mean exactly? Changing the power level does not actually alter the intensity of the radiation, but determines how often the magnetron is turned on (i.e., 10 percent of the time for every power level). Following the power level table found in the owner’s manual will help you optimize your cooking experience.

Quick defrost

Defrosting frozen meats and vegetables usually takes time and can often be unpredictable. No one likes it when the food comes out mushy in some parts and still frozen in others. A good microwave should include a quick defrost setting that thaws food evenly. Even better are models that determine the best defrost time and power level based on the weight of the food you enter in.

Whether you want a convection oven that bakes dishes and pizzas or a basic model that you use for popcorn and quick reheats, there’s a microwave out there with just the right features for you.

New DOE Standards for Calculating Drum Capacity in Washing Machines

As of April 30, 2011, all manufacturers of washing machines must report drum capacity using testing procedures established by the Department of Energy (DOE). These standardized means of calculating washer volume will provide consistent and accurate data for consumers. Hence, all washing machines sold today, regardless of when they were manufactured, will have uniform DOE capacity measurements.

All the major washer manufacturers are participating, including LG, Whirlpool, Samsung, and GE. Some companies are updating their product information online and in print to reflect the new DOE standards for calculating drum volume.

What does this mean for consumers? They will have access to precise and uniform capacity measurements, which will help them make educated decisions when selecting a high quality washer. Because drum volume determines energy and water consumption, consumers can choose an energy efficient model with confidence.
